12′ 9″ Kay-noe

12’9” Kay-noe

This highly useful boat is a cross between an open canoe and a shorter, easier to paddle, kayak. The canoe advantages are that without a covering deck, you can reach all your gear, all the time, and it is much easier to get in and out, as well. The kayak advantages are that with the shorter length, lighter weight and less windage, it is easy to paddle along quickly, especially with the included matching kayak paddle.

The construction is from 4mm marine okume plywood with the individual planks epoxy glued along the overlaps. The stem, transom and rubrails are made from solid sepele mahogany. The seats are pine. The entire hull is epoxy coated then given at least 3 coats of varnish.

Due to the high strength of the epoxied joints and the rigidity of the overlapping seams, traditional frames can be omitted yielding a clean, open interior, that will be easy to maintain and varnish in the future.

Length: 12’8”                    Beam: 31”            Weight: 39lbs!
